“Our major obligation is not to mistake slogans for solutions.” ---Edward R. Murrow

The first thing that comes to mind when talking about slogans is definitely media and advertisements. We are surrounded by false advertisements, we are submerged into a world of lies and as Murrow says it is not only up to us but it is our "job" to be able to discern the truth and understand the subliminal messages. By understanding the subliminal messages, we can grasp what is really being said and therefore not believe what is being stated.
Some popular stores include Walmart and Target. Walmart's slogan is "Save money live better " and Target's slogan is "expect more. Pay less". Walmart's slogan is widely known but not many have seen the underlying message it sends. By stating " live better"  Walmart is telling all consumers, their customers as well, that in order for them to save money they need to shop at Walmart. They are also stating that by shopping at Walmart one will reach a better quality of life. This is something that cannot be proven or at least true to all.
Target's slogan is fairly similar to Walmart's in the way that they both are stating that they have the lowest prices.
Many products are also falsely advertised. Most of these products are beauty, and health products. Shampoos, lotions, pills, and injections are just some of the most common ones. Beauty creams sold to remove wrinkles or " erase the effects of aging" or shampoos that help hair grow back ( eliminating bald spots ) all send false lies that we should learn how to decipher.
