“Truth is powerful, and it prevails.”   ---Sojourner Truth

In today's day in age it can be hard to see what is true verses what is not. Knowing that, if we are skeptical about everything and do not accept anything as true we would never be able to solve a problem or progress. This is also known as infinite regress, infinite regress does not lead to further advancements and so stumps their developement. There comes a point when something has to be accepted as true. I agree with Sojourner Truth but to an extent because things get really foggy when we start to consider other fields or subjects such as; history, religion, and science. We come to rely on empirical evidence for more than any other. In order to prove something to be true we rely on our senses and repeatability. The sciences especially, rely heavily on emperiacal evidence. If something cannot be repeated then it may not be considered to be true. However this is not the case when talking about religion. In religion empirical evidence is not necessarily needed. Accepting or interpreting an event or object differently can influence whether a person will accept it as true. Every individual has a unique truths that may not be true, but whether the person agrees or disagrees with a fact, it will always be true.  For example, if someone were to disagree with the statement 1+1 = 2 or the statement "all human need water to survive" doesn't mean that these statements are not true.  In history we have examined several events and have learned that historians can never really reached the truth that only through a wider perspective or through a variety of different texts from different people can they really reach something close to the truth. History is a complicated subject when it comes to talking about truth because individuals possess a set of biases that bring or take historians further from the truth. Even historians themselves bring their own set of biases when interpreting events, so reaching the whole truth is almost impossible.
We are living in a very peculiar time, where lots of changes are happening. The president of this country has done things that a few years back would have been outrageous. This is where I don't agree much with Sojourner. I do believe that the Truth prevails but at times when we can see the leader of our country lie in public and "get away" with it, it's hard to fully support what Sojourner says.
