“I learned that courage is not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it. The brave man is not he who does not feel afraid, but he who conquers that fear.”
                                                                                                                 ---Nelson Mandela

Bravery  is something we can't explain quite well. It's walking through  the dark, bitting your tounge when you want to speak out, speaking in front of the crowds, trying something new, or walking through danger when every part of you tells you to run. Bravery , courage is being able to overcome that fear. An individual who does not feel afraid does not make them courageous. To be courageous, one must have a fear but be able to overcome it. That's when it's challenging, because anyone can complete a certain task if it's easy and they feel comfortable with it. It's only when someone tries it without knowing or takes a step toward their goal, is when we can see courage.
Fear is a natural feeling among individuals, but it's not limited to just us, animals also express fear.
They may express it differently but it's a similarity between us and them. Fear is a necessity, it's a well built defense mechanism, but even such a mechanism has its flaws. Fear is essential for our survival, because it keeps us from doing certain activities that may bring harm to others but also to ourselves. Because fear functions in this way, it has its drawbacks as well. Since it restrains us from doing certain activities, it stops us from being able to grow in areas where our fears aren't necessarily about surviving. Some fears like those include; public speaking, heights, crowds, and many others.
Individuals whom are able to beat their fears are those who are seen as courages. They had to put in the extra effort inorder to surpass their fears.
